10 Bad Habits to Break in Photoshop
What things we should not do in Photoshop? Photoshop is a very powerful application that offers many tools that allow us sometimes to get the same result in different ways. In this article, Martin Perhiniak lists 10 bad habits that we, as graphic designers or simply photoshop users, should break in order to improve our workflow.
The first thing Martin recommend us, is to start working on a single layer. Otherwise, there will come a time when you make a mistake and see that all this time you were working in the same single layer. Then you can not go back and the only option you will have will be to start from scratch. Another common bad habit is to delete something instead of masking it.
I think masks are one of the most powerful features that Photoshop offers us. We have different masks options to use: pixel mask, vector mask, and clipping mask. There’s no excuse for not using masks in Photoshop. Another thing to keep in mind is the use of keyboard shortcuts.
In the article, Martin compares not using keyboard shortcuts to eating a soup with a fork. Is very tedious and repetitive to have to do the same again and again. There are some keyboards that we use more often than others. I think those are the ones we should start using first and eventually when we learn them, the others. Some of the most used are: copy, paste, close, save, among others. If you are constantly using Photoshop, I suggest you finish this very useful article and find out which are the other bad habits you must break.
